Welcome to the home of the one and only Gregini, the Master Prognosticator of Cyberspace!____________________________________________________

Howdy to all you college pigskin fans out there.  Whether you are a first time visitor or a repeat surfer here at the Eye of the Tiger, I'm mighty glad you've stopped by.  Now this website ain't the place to go if you're a bettin' man or are hopin' to find out what the Vegas odds are for upcomin' pigskin action.  Instead this is just a friendly little place to hang out and kill a little time while waitin' for each fall Saturday to roll around with more gridiron excitment than you can shake a stick at.

This is the eleventh season of prognosticatin' for the Master Prognosticator of Cyberspace and you should keep in mind while you surf that the Gregini does tend to look at things through a pair of orange and blue colored lenses and he ain't afraid to admit it.  Half the fun of a personal website is bein' able to poke a little fun at the competition and every now and then make them squirm a little bit.  So if this site seems to be rather one sided, well that's 'cause it most certainly is and it ain't likely to change anytime soon.  So, if that don't get your blood pressure up too high for comfort, then this is the place for you.  Enjoy the site and I look forward to keepin' you entertained throughout the season with the weekly prognostications, the Beat the Gregini game and more.  War Eagle!______________________________________________________________

So, just who is the Gregini ?

The Gregini is a fairly complicated fella. He is a business professional, a husband and father, a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, a backyard vegetable farmer and a prognosticator extraordinare. And, in case you ain't been  payin' attention, an Auburn University athletics fanatic through and through.  All of that, plus a bit of free time and high speed DSL yields this simple ole personal website. Still, it's better than watchin' too much of the junk on the TV these days, with the exception bein' a little college gridiron action and an occasional Atlanta Braves baseball game.                                                        __________________________________

Kickoff is comin' people!!!

Now that is an intimidating stare!

Be sure to come back every week durin' the pigskin season to check out what amazin' picks the Gregini has for next weeks gridiron contests!!!

Why both a Tiger and an Eagle ?

Auburn has only one nickname – the Auburn Tigers“War Eagle” is a battle cry, used by Auburn fans in the same manner Alabama fans yell “Roll Tide!” and Arkansas fans yell “Sooie Pig!”  You never hear Alabama referred to as the Alabama Roll Tides or Arkansas as the Arkansas Sooie Pigs, and to call Auburn teams the Auburn War Eagles would be just as incorrect.  The battle cry “War Eagle” should never have an “s” on the end of it.  The nickname “Tigers” comes from a line in Oliver Goldsmith’s poem, “The Deserted Village,” published in May 1770, “where crouching tigers wait their hapless prey…”  The term “Plainsmen” comes from a line in that same Goldsmith poem, “Sweet Auburn, loveliest (sic) village of the plain…” Since Auburn athletes were, in the early days, men from the Plains, it was only natural for newspaper headline writers to shorten that to “Plainsmen.”  It may be confusing to an outsider, but to Auburn people, it is very simple. That’s why War Eagle VII, Auburn’s golden eagle symbol, is named Nova!
